Is posting delay acceptable. What can we all do?

Things are frustratingly slow and even though we've been here only a few months I think others feel the same. Is the "moderation" or administrator approval the biggest problem? It drives us mental. How many do it? Is the total number of lurkers with no pictures a big part of the problem? Would the site die without that traffic? Is locking your profile page part of the answer? Locked profile really annoy us - after all surely we are all here to share? Could / should a member of much longer standing than us approach the site admin or dmy Master with these concerns if shared by many. Finally, who can answer what happens to all our pictures. What is the big time delay all about? Photos post in dribs and drabs and yet any number of us together could moderate pics on some sort of trust basis.
